Used to expedite Barrett’s approval through a parliamentary procedure colloquially known as the ‘nuclear option’ – “[…] to override a standing rule, like the rule requiring a two-thirds majority to end a filibuster, by a simple majority.” – NOTE 1 *

Using History to Predict the Future
The headline reads: “Senate Dems Unlikely to Be Able to Change, Abolish Filibuster” in anticipation of the Democrats, after their return from recess, using the same procedure the Republicans used to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court; – Note 9 * – A.K.A. the nuclear option, to push their ‘For the People’ Act (S.1). with only a slim majority.
Founding the Soviet Union
“Noms de politiques are the norm.”…”Vladimir Ulyanov, a striking, prematurely balding man with distinctive narrow eyes, is known as Lenin.” – Note 3 – This would be the brother of Aleksandr Ulyanov. Aleksandr Ilyich Ulyanov was a Russian revolutionary and political activist. He was the elder brother of Vladimir Lenin, the founder of the Soviet Union. – Note 4 *
“[…] history risks turning into a kind of general social studies subject (as it is in K–12). It becomes the short-term history of various kinds of identity politics defined by present concerns and might therefore be better approached via sociology, political science, or ethnic studies. – Note 8 *
Ideological Shifts: Russia v. U.S.
Pew Research: “To be sure, those with across-the-board liberal or conservative views remain in the minority; most Americans continue to express at least some mix of liberal and conservative attitudes. Yet those who express ideologically consistent views have disproportionate influence on the political process: They are more likely than those with mixed views to vote regularly and far more likely to donate to political campaigns and contact elected officials.” – Note 7 *
Presentism – a working definition
Interpreting History by the Standards of Modernity
Yet presentism besets us in two different ways: (1) the tendency to interpret the past in presentist terms; and (2) the shift of general historical interest toward the contemporary period and away from the more distant past.link to https://www.historians.org/publications-and-directories/perspectives-on-history/may-2002/against-presentism – AGAINST PRESENTISM, Lynn Hunt | May 1, 2002

Populist Propaganda –
“Both Western and Soviet historians portray the assassination of Alexander II by the desperate terrorists of the People’s Will as a pyrrhic victory, the culmination of the crisis of revolutionary populism of the late 1870s and prelude to the decline of the revolutionary movement in the 1880s.” – Pearl, pg 2552 – link to PEARL, DEBORAH L. “Educating Workers For Revolution: Populist Propaganda in St. Petersburg, 1879-1882.” Russian History, vol. 15, no. 2/4, 1988, pp. 255–284. “Nicholas I […] left behind a dispirited country, humiliated by military reverses, threatened with bankruptcy, and riddled with corruption. Peasant disorders were increasing ominously, and an even more threatening coalition of foreign enemies was gathering.” Rieber, pg 425 – https://www.jstor.org/stable/1877924 – link – Rieber, Alfred J. “Alexander II: A Revisionist View.” The Journal of Modern History, vol. 43, no. 1, 1971, pp. 42–58. Possible Controlled-Opposition in History
On the day of his assassination, Alexander II signed an ukaz setting up consultative commissions to advise the monarch. On ascending to the throne, however, Alexander III took Pobedonostsev’s advice and cancelled the policy before its publication. He made it clear that his autocracy would not be limited.link to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_III_of_Russia
