Creative writers enjoyed great prestige in both the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union because of literature’s unique role as a sounding board for deeper political and social issues. Vladimir Lenin believed that literature and art could be exploited for ideological and political as well as educational purposes. As a result, the party rapidly established control over print and electronic media, book publishing and distribution, bookstores and libraries, and it created or abolished newspapers and periodicals at will.

If the government doesn’t really represent the majority, it’s no democracy, at all, but instead represents other individuals, the real rulers, who might be hidden. Consequently, if a democracy exists but a censor somehow becomes allowed, and emerges into existence in a given land, then democracy will inevitably be snuffed-out there, and dictatorship will inevitably be the result — merely because censorship has been applied there, which blocks some essential truths (truths that the rulers don’t want the public to know) from reaching the public.

Our venerable and God-bearing Father Symeon of Trier, also referred to as Symeon of Syracuse and Symeon of Mount Sinai, was a monastic and recluse of the late tenth and early eleventh centuries. He was one of the last great figures that linked the Orthodox West and the Orthodox East.

The Executive Summary
Dear Reader: In this publication – which is a non-profit, I have strived to present several loosely-related items in one blog post. The pieces weave a story, that is to say a narrative, as history never fails to do when given a chance. History is a narrative derived from sources that will withstand critical analysis – as paraphrased from Merriam-Webster above.
I believe this blog post presents vital information. I begin with censorship -and a clue as to why it is pernicious. Especially relevant with the current talk of secession, specifically as it relates to California.

The secession story presented in the clip is an example of propaganda, as is explained. It is an instrument of The State. “Well into the Jerry Brown era, this idea of secession is breaking California away from the rest of the U.S. is actually a serious proposition.” NOTE: Jerry Brown, the son of Pat Brown who was also a governor of California, was poised to finish his fourth and final term on January 9th, 2019, at 16 years, 5 days (5,849 days).

Then we venture on our pilgrimage to the tomb of St. Simeon of Trier. Why should we pay homage to history? Shall we venerate it before it is rewritten in the style of George Orwell? This monk and recluse died in Germany in 1035. He is a saint in the Orthodox Church.
I then take a moment to define historiography. Unfortunately, you need an online subscription to refer to this link. I hope to communicate the idea that history, despite Postmodernism, is a relevant art form that does convey deep truths through narrative and presentation. Forgive my confetti-like manner of errant brush-strokes and jumbled word-salad. My intentions are good. More on good intentions later.

That is to say: The electorate is not sovereign. Example: Constitutional sheriffs are sovereign. I shall have to define ‘sovereign’ next; but that is for another blog post.
There is a quick sketch of the relevant, broad-sweep of Former Governor Jerry Brown‘s career. Serving four terms, Edmund Gerald Brown Jr. was the 34th as well as the 39th Governor of California (Old California as the future will tell us.) There was his 1976 Presidential Bid where he received 15.4% of the primary votes as compared to Jimmy Carter’s 39.2%. George Wallace received 12.3%.
There was another Governor of California mentioned, at least one more: a Hollywood star of blockbusters and active Republican who could never be president due to not being a natural-born citizen. HINT: neither can Kamala Harris.
I am indebted to so many sources including the Library of Congress: Revelations from the Russian Archives, where they describe an era that seems to be repeating itself today. The means of mass communication were under tight control during the 2020 election.
Remember, that is to say, let us not forget the recluse who was one of the last great figures that linked the Orthodox West and the Orthodox East. Especially as our beloved California with an economy larger than most countries slowly drifts across the Pacific Ocean towards a grasping China. You remember, and you will remember.
